What Are Quilters Blogging About Today?

I love Strings of Beads. The beads themselves can be cut from any scraps of fabric, selected scraps, or purchased fabrics. Mark the shapes onto fusible webbing before ironing onto the wrong side of the fabric, and then cut out.

I love the second design!

Lot s and lots of room for quilting!

This project file was started in 2018, and looking at it now I must have been busy doing other things, and didn’t take time to add some quilting designs.

The second design also has room for quilting to shine, but if it was under construction on the wedding day those empty spaces could be filled with signatures of wedding guests, or wedding photos could be printed on the fabric, … or a mixture of the two!

Need to add some quilting motifs to this file … could be an interesting project for a wet day!

I love playing with these simple leaf shapes, and though I have been sidelined by mixed bead shapes as well, today’s designs today have just the one shape.

Who really needs lots of different shapes when one shape in a variety of fabrics can be arranged like the second design?

As it is I would make this as a tablecloth for a large square table with room for two places on each side. No quilting involved.

However, if I was making it as a quilt there is lots of room for some wonderful quilting! I noticed as I was starting up Electric Quilt this morning that the hint was about using applique motifs as quilting motifs … now, that is a hint I should take note of!

The second design has some wide open spaces which need some quilting too.

String of Beads was popular nearly one hundred years ago, and that was many years before fusible webbing and cutting machines were available. I have made several items using that one simple shape before I bought a cutting machine, but the next one will be cut mechanically, guided by computer.

I love the first design, but this second one would look great with the motifs I deleted from the first quilted in the open spaces I created, and I think I would like it more!

I am always amazed that one simple shape can be used to make so many designs.

I think the one above is my favourite for today, but that is subject to change.

The last one could change my mind if I add some quilting … but I am trying hard not to lose concentration on sorting out my virtual block collection. All going well that job will be done by the end of the month!
